In an interview with Shacknews, Blizzard president Mike Morhaime has fueled the rumor fire once again by saying the following:
“I think there is a pretty good argument to be made that that type of game might work very well on consoles. There might be some technical limitations though that we might need to get past.”
Technical limitations? He’s probably referring to the PS3’s architecture, which is difficult to work with and unfamiliar to many developers. Next up, Diablo 3 director Jay Wilson weighed in on the possibility:
“If we did it, we would want to do a really high quality version–we wouldn’t just want to do a port. We would never make that decision if we thought we had to compromise the overall quality…we could probably do it at any time, we could release the game and then decide we wanted to do a 360 version or a PS3 version.”
“We’ve really come to the conclusion that it’s [Diablo's] probably the best fit because the control scheme is actually not that incompatible [with consoles]. So if we were to make that decision, Diablo would be the natural choice.”
Hey, there’s certainly a market for it, Jay. If there’s one thing we know Blizzard loves, it’s MORE MONEY. Please, let this come to fruition!

It’s probably not gonna happen lol
As someone who downgraded to a not so behemoth style laptop, I support this.
I hate it when PC games are released on consoles. They always bellyflop into a pool of glass shards; and I’m not talking about the small pebbly glass, I mean the chunks of sharp edges (Counter-Strike, CoD4, Starcraft, etc…). A classic name like Diablo should not be seen on a console game cover.
In conclusion, as much money as they think they could make from trying to “reach a wider audience,” I hope they have more sense than turning potential fans into angry reviewers.
